About Strobes & Blinders

Modern LED strobes have outgrown the single white flash tube, and most units here hold down more than one job: the ADJ Jolt 300 doubles as strobe and eye candy effect, the Jolt Panel FX2 adds wash duties, Equinox’s Blitzer range runs from the white Blitzer II through the RGB Blitzer 160 to the Blitzer Impact 384 and FX Block 288 panel, and the Chauvet Professional STRIKE Array 2 covers wash, blinder and strobe in a single white fixture. For outdoor stages there is the IP-rated ADJ Jolt Panel FXIP.

Decide the fixture’s main job first. Pure strobing wants raw intensity and fast response, blinder work into an audience wants broad, even coverage, which is where the STRIKE Array 2 sits, and hybrid strobe and wash panels earn their slot on rigs where every truss position has to multitask. RGB units buy colour flexibility at some cost to outright white punch, so a white-only strobe still makes sense where maximum impact is the whole brief. Check DMX modes against your console before buying, since zone and pixel-style control multiplies channel counts quickly, and treat audience-facing strobe effects responsibly, with appropriate warnings for photosensitive attendees.

Strobes sit naturally alongside the haze and smoke categories, since atmosphere is what makes fast flashes read across a room, and trade accounts are available.
