About this Product

XB-14-2 offers a host of specialised broadcast features that normally come at a much higher price — including telephone communication channels, mic channel ON sensing, stereo channel start/cue outputs for playback device control, automatic muting of speaker outputs and much more.

Allen & Heath XB-14-2 broadcast mixer

Preamps

DuoPre Preamps

69dB of gain on mic inputs, optimised for the low-output dynamic microphones used in broadcast applications.

Recording

USB Audio Interface

Class-compliant USB audio interface with useful routing options for recording and broadcast applications.

Monitoring

Audition Bus

Dedicated stereo audition bus for off-air auditioning or recording. Press Audition to transfer the mix from the programme feed to the audition bus.

Telephone

Telco Channels

Two Telco channels with selectable clean-feed output, variable HPF/LPF for optimising caller frequency range, and a Talk button for back-communication.

The Evolution of the XB-14

Upgraded and Improved

XB-14-2 incorporates new features based on feedback from broadcasters who have built their operations around the original XB-14. With a wealth of routing options, dual stereo channels for up to 7 stereo sources, and the addition of a dedicated Audition bus, enhanced mic preamps and extended stereo channel gain range.

XB-14-2 satisfies the demands of small radio and internet broadcasters as well as larger organisations.

Workflow

Self or Producer Operated

Whether you need a mixer for a self-operated broadcast or a separate studio and engineer, XB-14-2 has the features to fit. Separate monitor mixes can be created for operator and guests, so the engineer can check levels and cue sources while the presenter listens to a different source.

The engineer/producer can communicate to the guest or presenter via talkback at the push of a button.

Broadcast Features

Built for Broadcast

Mic channel ON switch sensing automatically mutes speaker outputs when a mic is activated, preventing acoustic feedback on-air. Stereo channel start/cue outputs allow direct control of playback devices — no additional hardware required.

Two Telco channels with variable high-pass and low-pass filters optimise the frequency range of telephone callers, with clean-feed routing to programme, aux or audition bus.
