About Audio

Signal leads for stage and studio: XLR microphone cables, jack and phono interconnects and speakON couplers, mostly W Audio and Elumen8 assemblies, with the Elumen8 lines terminated in genuine Neutrik connectors. Lengths run from 0.25m patch stubs to 20m stage runs, in silver and black jackets so vocal lines and playback feeds can be told apart at a glance.

Balanced versus unbalanced is the core decision. XLR and TRS jack lines are balanced and reject interference over distance, so anything longer than a few metres, and anything carrying a mic-level signal, belongs on XLR. Phono and 3.5mm minijack are unbalanced consumer connections for DJ mixers, laptops and playback sources: keep those runs short and convert to balanced early, which is what the phono-to-XLR hybrid leads here are for. The child categories split it cleanly, XLR for mic and line runs, Jack Cables for instrument leads and minijack breakouts, Phono for playback interconnects and Couplers for joining speaker leads.

Buy a few more short XLRs than the plan says; every patch bay and drive rack eats them.
